Slaidburn Heritage Centre - The Slaidburn Village Archive

BeforeBefore
AfterAfter
Throughout the last seventeen years, Jenny Bradley has been gathering a collection of Upper Hodder Valley farming history memorabilia centred around the village of Slaidburn. From small beginnings it has grown into a huge collection of photographs and historical records about life and traditions in the Hodder Valley.

The aims of the Archive are too:

- Provide a place where local people can deposit family collections, particularly of farms, farming methods and farming families.
- Record the the customs and traditions of the area, particularly at a time when rural communities are being broken up and old farmsteads lose their residents.
- Provide information and exhibitions.

Pictured below is the ancient Saxon Stone, known as the 'Angel Stone', discovered near the church in the village. It has recently been presented to the Archive.
