Lomeshaye Bridge Mill

The Mill is situated at the bottom of Lomeshaye Rd, on a very attractive site beside the Leeds Liverpool Canal. It was built in 1841 as a two storey spinning mill and extended in 1882 by the Ecroyd family who built much of Whitefield, including St Mary's Church. It continued as a textile mill until 1960. Heritage Trust for the North West purchased the Mill and the adjacent Weaving Sheds in 1998. It is hoped to convert the Mill to apartments and workspace units. Planning permission has been given for the Weaving Sheds to be converted to a Centre for Traditional Building Craft Skills. The Prince of Wales' Regeneration Trust is acting as advisor and co-ordinator.
