Lomeshaye Mill, School and Bridge Cottage

The Mill is situated at the bottom of Lomeshaye Rd, on a very attractive site beside the Leeds Liverpool Canal. It was built in 1841 as a two storey spinning mill and extended in 1882 by the Ecroyd family who built much of Whitefield, including St Mary's Church. It continued as a textile mill until 1960.

The former Lomeshaye School was built in 1865 for William Farrer Ecroyd, a local mill owner. It served as the school for his mill workers' children, later becoming the local primary school. After ceasing to be used by the education authority in the late 1970s, it was used until 1997 as a print works.
